Virgil Green Sworn in as GVPD Police Chief
Chief Virgil Green Sr. was born in Hobbs, New Mexico but previous to his move up here he lived in Oklahoma. Chief Green has a blended family consisting of 7 children and currently 19 grandchildren. Chief said, “I look forward to all the amazing things we will do together.” In order to achieve this goal, we must work as an innovative and collaborative team. We will work hard together to lead our department and city into the future.” Chief Green has been in law enforcement for over 38 years so he brings a lot of experience and new ideas with him. He has a reputation as being a hard working police chief, where he wears the uniform, goes out on calls and will just go out patrolling along with the numerous meetings, events and briefings he is responsible for. One of Greens top priorities is reducing distrust between the police department and the minority community and improving police response to the community needs.
