Rudy Perez Comments on Time at the GVPD and Moving on
When I first arrived at GVPD, we had only three seasoned police officers. My goal was simple: to grow our team, not just by hiring more people, but by bringing in the right officers, those committed to staying and building with us. My second goal was to establish a strong leadership team by guiding, mentoring, and developing the leaders who would help move out department forward.
Together, we achieved that. Today the agency is moving in a promising direction, and I believe it’s time for me to step aside. I want to make room for other to come in and build on the strong foundation we’ve put in place.
As I prepare to step away, my greatest hope is that GVPD continues to move forward and improve. It is with great sadness that I announce my retirement as of September 24, 2026.
I’m truly grateful for the opportunity to serve, and I want to say thank you for the wonderful memories we’ve created together. I’ll always appreciate the support, the teamwork, and the shared commitment that helped make this journey meaningful.
